Dr. Joyce E. Kyle Miller is Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction at Texas A&M University Commerce, Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Miller has taught English and Spanish in various public schools in Texas and has been a faculty member at Texas A&M University Commerce since receiving her doctorate from the University of North Texas. She holds the Bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish, the Master’s degree in Secondary Education and English and the PhD in Secondary Education and Student Personnel Services Administration. Dr. Miller developed the Gifted Education program at A&M Commerce, and she teaches the GT courses as well as other graduate degree courses. Dr. Miller serves as advisor to graduate students pursuing Masters and Doctoral degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and is the Faculty Advisor for the TAMUC NAACP College Chapter. In addition, Dr. Miller directs the ACT-SO (Academic, Cultural, Technological, Scientific Olympics, https://youtu.be/VqNptD-oAOg ) program and serves as State ACT-SO Chair. She created the TAMU-Commerce Saturday Seminars for gifted and talented middle school and high school students and hosts annually free SAT/ACT Practice Tests for these students and organizes college tours and education forums designed to empower parents and students as they navigate the process of “readying and preparing for college.” Her research interests are in gifted education, the African American gifted student, differentiated curriculum and instruction, and cultural diversity. Dr. Miller is an elected member of the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented Board (TAGT), serves as Board Secretary and has served as one of three USA Delegates to the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC).
