Be Here Now: Teaching Mindfulness to Students
Mindfulness is defined as awareness of the present moment. Mindfulness has many benefits for the social emotional well-being of gifted students such as improved attention, better coping with emotions, and calmer decision making. Participants will learn how to teach both active and passive mindfulness practices to their students.

Integrating STEM & Social Emotional Learning Through Literature
Interact with literature that addresses the engineering process and emotional needs of elementary gifted students. Each book will have an interactive design challenge that participants will complete during the session. We will compile the texts and their uses to create a list of supports that can be immediately applied.

Research Pop-Up: Unlocking Gifted Adolescent Motivation: Keys to Increased Student Engagement & Achievement
Through Gagne's DMGT and expectancy-value-theory, this qualitative cross-case study explores gifted adolescent perspectives on motivation and fills a gap in a highly quantitative field. The unrestricted insights of gifted adolescents through the triangulation of multiple data collection methods led to new insights on how to maximize student engagement and achievement. Findings from this study broaden the scope and offer new insights on how to better meet the academic and motivational needs of gifted adolescents through the formatting of lesson development, specific teacher-student interactions, and an awareness of how to increase students' valuation of assignments to increase sustained effort.
