Our goal of the session is to share ideas on how to use mentor texts and open-ended materials to engage students in hands-on challenges through interactive read alouds. Participants will learn tips on how to choose mentor texts, design challenges, and how to implement STEAM across the curriculum.

Meet every student at their own skill level by using open-ended challenges to teach design and engineering concepts. Learn new simple challenges with KEVA Planks by doing them yourself. No PowerPoints, just practical activities you can implement immediately to encourage critical and creative thinking. Session will also demonstrate how to use open-ended questioning with students. The activities are easy and fun to lead but have an unlimited range of difficulty. Play with purpose.

Sneak STEM into any subject you teach with games and fun challenges.You will be creating bridges, flowers, architecture, and much more with impromptu challenges using fun and interactive KEVA Planks. Individual, partner, and group projects will give you a first-hand understanding of how open-ended challenges can be so powerful and yet so easy to lead. It's a practical teaching method you can implement immediately.
