Research Pop-Up: Using Sternberg's Theory of Successful Intelligence and Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory as a Basis for Identification in G/T Programs
Populations within Gifted programs should mirror the demographics in today's schools. Historically, underrepresented populations in these programs include EL, Black, Hispanic, economically disadvantaged & 2e. Using Gardner & Sternberg's theories as a foundation for developing equitable identification & assessment measures in gifted programs can aid in issues of underrepresentation. This research will aid in program development, implementation and evaluation as directors and coordinators look to create more equitable gifted programs for all populations including those underserved within gifted. It will also have implications for those Secondary advanced level programs such as AP, Pre-AP, Dual Credit and IB.
